What should i study if i have an interest in the enviroment?

IMPORTANT....im still young in high school but i would like to research from now. so i like the enviroment and i .....want to make people aware of it i really want to help endangerd animals make people aware of it sort of like nationalr geographic i also want to improve the whole energy thing like solar power i watch NG and discovery channel and it got me thinking of how i want to help my country and improve the lifes of people and make a diffrence in the world even if its small. i want 2 do projects like make schools in really hot sunny countries use and apply solar power and help the endangerd wild cats. i have alot in my mind . so i was just wondering who i can talk to what i should study and major in to do this stuff what r some collgeges or universties any help would be reccomended???? . if u have any thing to say please do i will take every answer. i also want to know what theses people r called so i can i research, this is really important 2 me but somtimes i feel like its impossible. HELP
